PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a hit in my class! It is engaging, thoughtful, and easier to grade than you might think. Students write better when they have a specific audience in mind. This handout guides them to write a thoughtful three-paragraph letter that addressed the following prompt: What makes this novel so rewarding to read? Students then select one aspect of the novel that they believe is the reason the novel is so strong. Conversely, this can be used to criticize a novel. Students love to receive letters and write strong responses.
This is fun, thoughtful, and teaches focused essay writing without you having to read a five-paragraph essay every month! Students reflect on their efforts on the rubric, as do you!
