End of Year Activity for Middle School ELA: Found Poetry Based on Texts Read
In this End of Year Activity for Middle School, students use excerpts from the texts they have read in class in order to compose a found poem. The resource contains detailed teacher directions for the lesson plan, directions to help students compose their found poems, and two analysis sheets to help students reflect on their own end of the year found poems and those of their classmates.
This End of Year Found poems acitvity is a perfect way to get students to reflect on the readings they have done throughout the year in a fun, creative, yet rigorous way. You can use this activity to enforce skills in theme, mood, tone and creative writing. This resource is fully editable.
Note: The excerpts students use to create the poems are not included, as these will vary by individual teacher. To properly use this resource, teachers will need to select 6-8 one page or shorter excerpts from texts students have read throughout the year.
