Description
This is a lesson designed to help middle school students review conjunctions with an emphasis on distinguishing between the two types of conjunctions by identifying sentence types. There is also a strong emphasis on identifying the relationship a conjunction shows between two clauses.
Standards covered include:
1. SWBAT define and select usages of different conjunctions.
2. SWBAT combine two sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
This practice includes 2 easy reference tables for students to use when determining what type of conjunction and punctuation to utilize.
The practice includes 20 multiple-choice questions formatted in rounds, so the students know to have their work checked throughout the practice. There is also a 4-question multiple-choice exit ticket at the end of the lesson.
This is an effective lesson for students who have exposure to conjunctions but struggle in identifying which type to use and when to use a comma.
All answers are included in Microsoft Comments. The Zip file includes a PDF student copy, PDF teacher copy, and a Microsoft Word document.
