This Omega English product helps middle school students understand the concept of newsworthiness. It contains a lively 11 page handout that can be printed or projected discussing the 9 elements of newsworthiness. In addition, it contains 1 graphic organizer in which students analyze news articles in order to determine whether or not it is newsworthy using the using the elements presented. During this activity, students arrange articles according to relevancy and justify their responses. Teacher’s instructions for the activity are also included (1).
