This set of comics and activities covers all of the basics of middle school language arts in a fun and engaging way that will inspire reluctant learners and gifted children alike. Each language arts concept is presented in a comic lesson followed by activities that reinforce the concept. They are perfect for minilessons, learning stations, or large group instruction.
The first set included is the Parts of Speech
lessons which cover all of the parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, pronouns, and interjections. Each part of speech has activities except for conjunctions and interjections.
The second set includes both Common Errors in Writing and More Common Errors in Writing
. These comics address the most common mistakes that students make while writing. Covered in this set: vague pronouns, run-on sentences, sentence fragments, misplaced modifiers, subject verb agreement, parallel structure, "its and it's," "your and you're," "they're, their and there," passive voice, comma splices, and another comic on sentence fragments.
I have also included a full set of Parts of Speech Posters
to display in your classroom. They are formatted for 11 x 17 printing, but can easily be printed at letter size (instructions are included).
The fourth set is a series of lessons that cover the main rules for comma usage. No activities are included for these.
Finally as a bonus I have included a comic lesson on Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" which is part of a larger set of comics that teach literary devices through classic poems. If you like what you see, be sure to check out my Poetry Comics Bundle.
