This is a collection of task cards meant to assist in the practice of writing the essential parts of a story. I hope your students get a feel for how to best utilize all the parts of a story before writing one!
Could best be utilized in small groups for a couple of mini-lessons, or as extra practice.
12 Task Cards on Beginning a Story using Dialogue, Action, Details about Setting, Details about a Character, Varying Sentence Length, and Writing a Good Ending.
The front of the task card discusses the importance of each task, and on the back, students are instructed to write, explain, correct, and create.
10 Task Cards on Show-Not-Tell Writing using all the senses.
The front of the task card tells what senses the students must use in rewriting a telling sentence into a showing sentence on the back.
These are great for use before starting the narrative process.
(I didn't include assembly instructions, but just cut out, place a piece of cardstock that's slightly larger in between the front and back, and laminate.)
