Product Description
This product is a zip compressed folder containing a list of 20 words commonly misspelled, three days of homework handouts, class materials(3 handouts) and a colorful PowerPoint presentation.

Spelling Words - This is a list of words that I generated based from my seventh grader's literature response writing. I found the most common misspelled words and created this three day project. It is active and fun! The printable is 14 pages.

Then, this is the flipped learning aspect. I have the students do all the hard work at home. On Monday, I go through all the words, using a PowerPoint presentation and the kids "fill in the blanks". The students then have three nights of homework practicing the words: repetition drills, synonyms, antonyms, puzzles, etc.

Then, class time this week is used for enrichment opportunities and cooperative learning. There is a QR code for an iPad adventure that explores various spelling websites. I used one class day on this activity. On test day, I used the six task cards for spelling learning stations. The kids had about 4 minutes at each station to complete the hands-on spelling activities. There are six activities (testing, thesaurus, spelling tiles, sky writing, syllable hole-punch, and tic-tac-toe.

This was such a more effective way to teach spelling than the traditional. The kids had a blast. I would recommend this lesson for upper elementary or early middle school students.

***These task cards are not exclusive to the spelling words provided. They can be used with any list of words.
To make the task cards, simply print out the slides on the PowerPoint presentation and glue them front-back to place on each station. Slides are color coated and give the activities for each spelling station. Some materials need to be provided.
