Middle School - Business and Economics, Financial Literacy
This booklet has been created to tie in with either Business and Economics or Financial Literacy.
Students form small groups and start their own business. Each group is provided with a start up cost (max $20) and needs to pay this back to their teacher as their business makes profits.
This resource includes a list of brainstorm ideas for appropriate/ minimal start up businesses to help the class start out.
The project is usually run over the length of a term (10 weeks). Students create their own Business name, logo and contact details. They also design their own labels and order forms. Each business can they create a sample box of their product to show parents and friends, to encourage sales.
Each week the class has a look at their total profit or loss total and have a meeting on ideas to increase sales.
