Get kids THINKING! This is much more than a "definition style" test! There are diagrams to analyze, and the questions mimic how standardized tests generally ask about this topic. This middle school-level test includes 30 multiple choice questions, some of which include simple pictures, diagrams, and data to interpret. There are also 3 straightforward open response questions. This test is designed to assess understanding of the "big picture" ideas outlined in NGSS standards MS-ESS2-5 and MS-ESS2-6.
Although the NGSS weather and climate standards are listed as grade 6-8, this test is probably best suited to 7th or 8th grade. The concepts covered all fall under the middle school standards, however.
Less copies and easy to correct - save time with our test packet format! The test is 5 pages long with an additional 2-sided student answer sheet. You only have to make one class set of test question packets and then reuse them class to class, as it is only necessary for the students to write on their answer sheet.
MS-ESS2-5: Collect data to provide evidence for how the motions and complex interactions of air masses results in changes in weather conditions.
MS-ESS2-6: Develop and use a model to describe how unequal heating and rotation of the Earth cause patterns of atmospheric and oceanic circulation that determine regional climates.
