Description

This ceramics and sculpture art lesson focuses on the relationship between functional clay pottery and food traditions. This project is perfect for high school art or middle school art students. Students are asked to use slab building and slumping techniques to create a functional sculpture that goes with a personal food tradition.

In addition, students have to learn basic mold making techniques by creating a stamp design out of clay, creating a mold using plaster, and stamping the design into their slab clay piece.
