Every year I teach my Introduction to Art students how to use the grid method as a drawing tool. It helps give my students who are weaker in their drawing skills to learn how to break images down into lines and shapes to more successfully draw them.
These projects are how I introduce them to the grid method. They start with worksheets, move towards a collaborative project, and end with a realistic portrait drawing.
This unit includes two worksheets, a viewfinder template, collaborative grid lesson plan, portrait drawing lesson plan, two PowerPoints, step by step instructions, checklists, two critiques sheets, and a rubric.
