Milly & Tilly by Kate Summers / Reading Wonders Aligned
This story is a retelling of Aesop's "Town Mouse and Country Mouse" .
You can use this language + literacy lesson plan while targeting:
--Story comprehension, vocabulary, and retell.
--Comparing and contrasting (e.g., city & country)
**I personally use this lesson plan in conjunction with 1st Grade McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders Unit 1 Week 2 because it goes along with:
--Theme: Where You Live
--Essential Question: What’s it like where you live?
--Vocabulary words that are featured in this story that are part of 1st Grade Unit 1: country, scurried, collect.
-Vocabulary pre-test and post-test data sheet
-Comprehension questions and answers
-Various Language Questions that include compare/contrast, naming, and associations
-3 vocabulary words, definitions, and model sentences
-Vocabulary questions (such as synonyms and antonyms)
-Flashcards of the vocabulary words with pictures
-Venn diagram for comparing and contrasting country & city
