This lesson introduces students to heroes. It guides students to consider heroes they know personally and how to exaggerate a real hero into a super hero. Students will discuss community heroes. Students will identify community heroes known personally. Students will view one-block comics by well-known comic artists. Students will sketch possible layouts and make a final sketch. Students will make a print block print a series of images. Students will learn to correctly label a print .Students will reflect on the artwork process through a series of guiding questions. Students will use higher-level thinking such as: envisioning, visual-spatial exploration, critical analysis, evaluating and metacognitive processes. This lesson is important because it guides students to local heroes and use them as inspiration for artwork.
