1 Powerpoint: Surrealist Artists, Landscape/Portrait
The lesson introduces students to identity, surrealism, and acrylic painting. Students will make a mind map of their own characteristics. Students will choose representative images to represent their own characteristics. Students will view artwork that uses portrait and landscape layouts. Students will sketch layouts of images for painting. Students will view a demonstration of basic painting techniques. Students will create a painting. Students will answer reflection questions. Students will discuss paintings as class. Students will use higher-level thinking such as: envisioning, visual-spatial exploration, critical analysis, evaluating and metacognitive processes. This lesson is important because it introduces students to a very traditional medium, paint, in an exciting fun way.
