Grammar: Apostrophes |
Using apostrophes to show possession is something that many students (and even some teachers) get confused by. I created this poster and follow-up worksheet as a fun way to help my students clarify the confusion.
This kit includes:
1) a poster that answers mind-boggling questions like, “Why do we have to bother with apostrophes?” “What if there’s already an ‘s’ there? “What if I’m talking about more than one person?” and “What if it’s more than one person, but it doesn’t end in ‘s’?
2) A “Grandma’s Grammar Advice” section, with a special tip about how to avoid common trouble spots
3) A single-page worksheet with “Grandma’s Grammar Challenge,” including exercises in changing singular possessives into plural, changing nouns with irregular endings into plural possessives, and “Grandma’s Extra Challenge”: showing possession with things instead of people.
4) An answer key showing an exact duplicate of the worksheet, but with the answers written in
