I created these logs for my piano students to do "mindful practice" in the month of January that builds their awareness of their own practicing (what went well on a certain day and what maybe didn't go as well) and helps them develop good practice habits. I'm excited to share the log template with you and your students!
This product includes an instruction sheet (studio and classroom versions), as well as 4 weeks' worth of log templates (five days in each week) that your students can fill out to evaluate the practice they do at home or in your classroom.
What Is “Mindful Practice”?
Mindful practice means being “in the moment” while you’re playing – focusing on and listening to the music you’re making and giving your instrument all of your attention (without being distracted).
When you do mindful practice, you also take note of how your practice is going – what is going well and what is maybe not going so well – and stop to fix any problems you may have (with note naming, fingering, rhythms, dynamics, or something else) instead of just playing through your practicing assignments quickly so that you can move on to doing something else.
