Mindfulness Cards empower children to learn what their bodies need, providing them with tools to self-regulate and stay healthy. Children have a growth mindset and can take control to help their brains develop. By practicing these mindfulness and calming techniques, they learn strategies that will not only help them in the present moment, but for the rest of their lives.

For some students it is important to have set calming breaks built into their daily routine to set them up for success. Others can use the cards on an as needed basis. They can be used with the whole class, small groups, or individual students.
These cards are great for ALL children, including those with ADHD, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and sensory processing difficulties. It is important to remember that something that might be relaxing for one child might not be for another, so this product is designed to be customized for each child’s needs.
Most students can learn to use these cards independently after they are introduced. The cards are designed to help students return to equilibrium when they become unsettled. Using the cards proactively, before a child becomes dysregulated, is strongly encouraged. Our goal is to help students feel calm and confident, so they can maximize access to academic curriculum and social relationships.

How product works:
Each card has a picture of a child completing the given activity as well as written instructions. Each card also has a key animal so nonreaders can begin to associate the animal with the activity. On the back there are the words “mission completed” with the animal so the teacher/parent and students can easily assess progress at a glance.
Provide children with recurring opportunities to practice techniques of self-calming.
All these activities are designed to be done without additional materials.
For whole class use, print the individual cards so they are larger and easily visible to the group.
For individual students or small groups, glue the front and back sheets together, cut out and laminate. Make sure to leave an edge when laminating, so the laminate is sealed. Then with a Vis A Vis (wet erase marker) you can add details such as repetitions, time,…if you wish. The writing will easily wipe off with a baby wipe or slightly damp paper towel.
