What educators are saying

We do a lot of social emotional learning at my school. I spend some time talking with my students about mindfulness as well. They love the mandalas!

Description

Mindfulness expert, Jon Kabat-Zinn, describes mindfulness as paying attention to the present moment with kindness and curiosity. When you’re being mindful, you carefully observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them. The benefit of this is that you become less reactive to the environment around you.

In addition to causing you to be less reactive, practicing mindfulness has other benefits as well. The great thing is that these benefits extend to children too. For instance, recent studies indicate that when children practice mindfulness, it can improve their ability to focus, pay attention, calm down when they are upset, and make better decisions.

Given all the positive benefits associated with mindfulness, it’s no wonder researchers, counselors, and educators are encouraging schools and parents to help children develop a regular mindfulness practice.

These mindfulness task cards use breathing techniques, movement, and sensory activities to help kids develop focus, concentration, and sensory awareness. Counselors, teachers, parents, and caregivers can use these cards to teach kids about mindfulness in a fun, easy to understand manner. These cards can be used both in the home and school settings.

When practicing mindfulness with these task cards, children learn to self regulate, practice self-awareness, and also how to focus their thoughts in a positive direction. This allows them to have greater self-control.

Additionally, this mindfulness activity pack contains 24 Mindfulness Mantras. These mantras allow students to use mandala coloring and deep breathing to practice mindfulness.

This resource includes:
31 Mindfulness Task Cards
31 Printer-friendly Black and White Mindfulness Task Cards
24 Mindfulness Mantras
Mindfulness Mantra Monitor Worksheet
