Use this paper fortune teller craft to teach and practice mindfulness and calming strategies. Kids and young adults can choose mindful prompts to add to their fortune teller, or choose from 10 pre-made fortune tellers with prompts already added. Learners love designing, coloring, and playing with fortune tellers. It is a simple and easy craft to teach mindfulness strategies.

An educator guide is included, with directions for teaching and following through with the lesson. Students will read a mindfulness worksheet that explains and gives examples of mindfulness. This craft also includes a list of mindfulness prompts for kids and young adults to read, practice, and choose from. Blank and several sample fortune tellers are included.

How to Use

First, the educator will explain and introduce mindfulness with the student worksheet. Next, students will read, practice, and select their top mindfulness prompts from the list. They will write those mindful prompts and questions in the printable. Alternatively, students can use pre-made samples with positive thinking already listed. After coloring and decorating, students will then cut out their fortune tellers and then use the directions to fold their craft together. Let students practice mindfulness by playing with their fortune tellers in partners or groups. Encourage students to read the mindful prompts and ask each other to follow along. This can be a great activity in small groups to discuss strategies and identify how mindfulness can be a calming strategy.
