Mine! LRC (Left Right Center) Game
Sounds for “igh” and “ie”
Great game to reinforce phonics skills!
Set of bracelets for each player (included)
3 “tokens” for each player – could be beans, counters, or even plastic eggs
Game cards cut apart and stacked (included)
Basket to collect “tokens”
Tape the “igh” bracelet around each players’ right wrist and the “ie /i/” bracelet around the left wrist. (Flip so the words are right-side up when hand is held out in front of face.)
Put a basket in the center of the playing area.
Place the “ie” /e/ strip in front of each player near the basket.
Set the stack of word cards where all players can reach it.
Give each player 3 “tokens”.
The first player takes a word card, reads the word and says the word in a sentence.
If the word uses the /i/ sound spelled “igh” the player gives one token to the player sitting to his/her right side.
If the word uses the /i/ sound spelled “ie” the player gives one token to the player sitting to his/her left side.
If the word uses the /e/ sound spelled “ie” the player puts one token in the basket.
If the word card says “mine!” the player does not give away any tokens.
Repeat these steps with the next player and continue around the group of players until there is only one token left. Shuffle and reuse cars if needed.
The player with the last token must draw a “mine!” card in order to win.
If the last token ends up in the basket – everyone wins!
