This worked great for my 8th graders. They have to "pass" different levels of finding area and perimeter. There final task is to create a building much like they would on Minecraft. It worked great to get my gamers involved. They have to measure items with something other than a ruler, measuring tape, etc. It is great to see creativity come out and some students step up as leaders in the group.
*Note: my room has a corner that is a diagonal, so I added for students to assume it was a rectangle..
