Have your kids practice their handwriting in an fun new way!
Daily Dictation: sentences created solely from sight word lists. Have the child look at the days sentence, observing spelling, punctuationa and capitalization. Read the sentence to the child, then have the child write the sentence, slowly and patiently to get their very best handwriting. The important part is that they try their very best. The sentences are simple, but for a child with dysgraphia, like mine, the are the exact amount of challenge he needs, to get his best work. Next, sit down together and look at the letters. Have your child choose their best and explain why they think its best. Then point out all of the good work they have done. Point out one error that they can work on for the next day.
Writing Skills: Everyday, there is a second task for the child. They cover numerous Language Arts topics:
parts of speech
By the end of this workbook, your child will have created one fictional Minecraft Story Book and one nonfictional Minecraft Informative Book.
The lessons are short, 10-15 a day, this is mostly for handwriting development, but it incorporates other important skills, so that it does not feel like simple copying.
Level 2, means it is 2nd grade level writing tasks, but since children develop their skills in a wider range, I have chosen to remove grade specific information. My son is in 3rd grade and is completing this book, while my daughter is in 1st grade and would do just as well.
You can have this book printed and bound at FedEx Kinkos for less that $20, or just print as you go.
