Teach your students how to identify minerals based on given properties and characteristics with a fun Bingo style game! This mineral bingo board is based off of two tables included in the New York State’s Earth Science Reference Tables BUT can be used in all states and at various grade levels. I’ve included the tables in the last slides in this file. Important Note: To play, students must be aware of the relative hardness of one’s fingernail and glass, as well as how to use this information to help identify a mineral. The relative hardness is included at the bottom of the included Properties of Minerals table.
After playing this game students will be able to do the following
*Identify a mineral when given various common properties
*Identify an element when given the symbol by attending to the bottom portion of Properties of Common Minerals page.
*Identify a mineral by synthesizing information from the Chemical Composition of Earth’s Crust, Hydrosphere and Troposphere (page 1 ESRT) and the Properties of Common Minerals table (page 16 ESRT).
I have included ALL materials you need to play!
