Product Description
It's not middle school science unless you have to identify minerals!

Here I've combined data from 27 popular minerals into a table to help your students in identifying common minerals. Two pages (for 20 minerals) of blank information tables are included for your students to record information from mineral tests. Students then use their information and the provided data tables to try and identify minerals. My students spend 3-4 days working on these! That's GREAT hands-on science.

**Minerals and test materials NOT included. You should have on hand: at least 10 minerals, unglazed porcelain plates, copper pennies, iron nail, glass plate, HCl (not completely necessary), paperclips (to test for magnetism; not completely necessary).

Minerals included in data table: galena, graphite, magnetite, pyrite, bauxite, biotite, corundum, hematite, limonite, olivine, garnet, sphalerite, amethyst, calcite, fluorite, gypsum, halite, muscovite mica, talc, dolomite, orthoclase feldspar, plagioclase feldspar, quartz, rose quartz, milky quartz, sulfur, sodalite.
