Are you a science teacher whose minerals got all mixed up, and you need the students to sort them? No problem! I've got a lab for just that situation... even if you have to pretend a bit.
Students will test out the properties of minerals in order to classify them and determine what they are. This includes looking at color and luster, streak test, Mohs Hardness Scale, and special properties like magnetism and color change under black light.
You can set up this lab using any minerals that you have on hand, but it does require the supplies to perform Mohs Hardness Test (copper penny, glass plate, steel nail) and the streak test (porcelain tile).
-Four versions of the lab depending on how many minerals you have and the level of your class
-Teacher information and tips for setup
-Pictures of the lab
