This guide was updated and expanded in May of 2017.
This is a mini-guide (a two-week literature study) for the book titled A Single Shard, by Linda Sue Park. In this book, Tree-ear, an orphan in 12th century Korea, desires to become a potter, but finds obstacles in his way.
The mini-guide contains vocabulary exercises, discussion questions, reading activities, life application/Bible connections, and an answer key.
This is an interactive guide that enables parents/teachers to facilitate an oral discussion of the book, but it only provides space for one student to complete fill-in-the-blank activities. If you are interested in using this guide with more than one student, check out the options:
1) Reproducibles (that contain all of the fill-in-the-blank activities):
Mini-Guide for Middlers: A Single Shard Reproducibles
2) Workbook format (the content of the interactive guide and the workbook guide are the same):
Mini-Guide for Middlers: A Single Shard Workbook
Note: You don’t need the reproducibles if you purchase the guide in workbook format.
Mini-guides were originally designed for homeschoolers; they are now also used in schools and co-ops. For more information about Mini-Guides, check the mini-guide page of the CNS website:
