This guide was updated and expanded in May of 2017.
This is a mini-guide (a two-week literature study) for the book titled Crispin -- The Cross of Lead, by Avi. In this book, a poor boy named Crispin is persecuted in 14th century England.
The mini-guide contains vocabulary exercises, discussion questions, reading activities, life application/Bible connections, and an answer key. A Glossary is included in one edition of the book, but not in another so a Glossary is included at the end of this guide. Sentences, location descriptions, Word Lists, and a Sentence List are also included to enable readers of any edition to use this guide.
This is an interactive guide that enables parents/teachers to facilitate an oral discussion of the book, but it only provides space for one student to complete fill-in-the-blank activities. If you are interested in using the guide with more than one student, check out the options:
1) Reproducibles contain all of the fill-in-the-blank activities:
Mini-Guide for Middlers: Crispin -- The Cross of Lead Reproducibles
a) When you purchase one set of reproducibles, you have permission to make a copy for each of your students.
b) An Answer Key is not provided for the reproducibles; the answers for the activities on the sheets are found at the end of the mini-guide.
2) In the workbook format of this guide, space is provided for students to write all of the answers:
Mini-Guide for Middlers: Crispin -- The Cross of Lead Workbook
a) You do not need the reproducibles if you purchase the guide in workbook format.
b) The content of the guide in interactive format and workbook format are the same.
Mini-guides were originally designed for homeschoolers; they are also used in schools and co-ops. For more information about Mini-Guides, check the mini-guide page of the CNS website:
