This is a short Madlib-style story for students practicing initial /r/ in sentences and and reading aloud. The story is about a man trying to get rid of a raccoon. It is nine sentences long and contains 21 blanks to fill in, in addition to initial /r/ words already in the story. The word bank contains 52 word options for the story.
My students love this type of story since it can be funny and more interactive than reading through a prewritten /r/ story. I typically give the students copies of the word bank and ask for their word choices for all the blanks. Then, they read the completed story. There are many ways the presentation of this activities could be modified to suit your needs though.
