Included are three 'mini' labs that are excellent to use to test students ability to read directions. Students must follow detailed instructions to create a mini test tube lava lamp, Glooze, and Oobleck.
I usually do these labs the day before Christmas/Winter break... fun labs that also include analysis questions.
All required 'ingredients" can be found in a general science classroom and at your local grocery store.
Required ingredients (in no particular order):
test tube, graduated cylinder, vegetable oil, water, food coloring, alka-seltzer, beakers, stirring rod, Skim milk, vinegar, baking soda, coffee filter, measuring spoons borax, white glue.
