PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This includes a full lesson plan on identifying rhyme scheme in lyrical poetry as well as slant and internal rhyme.

To accompany the lesson, there is a PowerPoint that uses Justin Beiber's "Baby" as an introduction to how rhythm can drastically change rather terrible lyrics.

Next, you will use "Baby" as a way to model rhyme scheme and identify slant and internal rhyme.

There are lyrics for 4 songs for your students to break into groups and practice the skills presented.

Rhyme scheme is then tied back to Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare and that a Sonnet is a type of lyrical poem as well.

Lastly, there is a short discussion and exit ticket where students complete a poem with a prescribed rhyme scheme.
