This has been updated and all QR Codes are working as of 7/2014
This unit was created to expose students to various types of informative text on the Internet, read and analyze text, write about their findings in the form of a mini research book project, and reflect upon certain situations. This material is aligned to CCSS for Reading Informational Text and Writing.
Students read and interact with text by scanning a QR Code and create a mini book on their topic based upon the information that they read and found. There are various topics such as animals, natural features of the Earth, places, people, and things. I created this for my 5th grade students, but it would also be appropriate for 6th and 7th grade.
You will need a device such as an iPad with a scan app or app that reads QR codes. Included in this unit are the following items:
44 QR Codes on topics such as people, places, and animals from kid friendly sites.
U.S. of America
Poison Dart Frog
Queen Elizabeth I
John F. Kennedy
Susan B. Anthony
10 question sheets that vary and can be folded into a book to create a mini research project.
1 cover page for the book.
Directions on how to fold and create the books with photos.
List of Internet Sources along with topic.
Suggestions for use.
4 point grading rubric based upon the work of Marzano.
Technology...My students have iPads and we use the app called Scan to read qr codes.
I hope this helps you!
