This is a great activity for any SLP wanting to work on minimal pairs. Included are 238 minimal pairs with 24 different sets of sounds to work on. These sets are: b-v; s-sh; s-z; t-ch; t-sh; p-b; d-t; g-d; k-t; k-g; t-s; dj-d; f-p; p-t; ch-sh; d-th; f-th; b-d; l-w; f-v; w-r; cluster reduction; initial consonant deletion; &; final consonant deletion. All sounds are practiced in the initial position only.
Three steps are recommended to compete this activity.
1. Introduce the pairs to the student. "This is go and this is doe"
2. Discrimination task. Make sure the student can hear the different between the two words. "Point to go, not point to doe."
3. Student Verbal Practice. The student must use the appropriate sounds to communicate to the SLP which picture to choose. "Pick up go, now pick up doe" ***It is very important that the SLP pick up the card with the word the child produces even if they intended on having you chose the other one.***
Enjoy this fun and easy minimal pair practice!!
