These books were designed to target the process in a fun interactive book format. The books are set up with two activities for each target. The student will first fill in the missing word of a phrase with one of the picture symbols on the bottom of the page [example: open a door with a ______(key) drink hot ______ (tea)]. This page contains the minimal pair. If the child produces the process incorrectly, I hold up the other picture and say the phrase (open a door with tea??) to emphasize that the word changes. The book then prompts the student to use the original pointer tool (stored at the top of the book) to point to the picture with the target . The next page asks the student to practice the target word three more times using my original sound cue visual.
Each book has its own unique visual cue!
D & P Minimal Pairs Cards (discriminate & practice).
These cards were designed to provide a discrimination task and a practice task for the most commonly seen phonological processing errors. You can use both or just one side of the card!
Targeted processes: Final Consonant Deletion, Velar Fronting, Stopping, and Gliding.
-D & P Cards for Final Consonant Deletion
-D & P Cards for Velar Fronting
-D & P Cards for Stopping
-D & P Cards for Gliding
There are two sides to each card:
-Discrimination side: There are two pictures (minimal pairs of the targeted process) with circles underneath. The student has to mark the circle under the picture with the target .
-Practice side: The student is prompted to practice the target with a sound cue or sound helper image.
I have used dry erase markers to color in the circles, but you could also use bingo chips, bingo dobbers, or play-dough.
