This lesson plan (PDF file) helps teachers lead their students into starting proving math facts. It brings two printable sheets that are to be used by the students to order a proof.
This activity is supposed to be carried out in groups. First, students will realize that (-1) . (-1) = +1; afterwards, they will use that result to generalize the idea that (-a) . (-b) = ab.
The teacher may introduce the subject; afterwards s/he just needs to cut the rectangles, shuffle them and split students into groups.
