Students will learn the issues and constitutional questions involved in Miranda vs. Arizona through a Supreme Court reenactment!
It's a no-prep lesson (other than making photocopies and setting up students' desks for the "courtroom").
There is a script that includes 14 different roles, so a large portion of your class can participate in the activity.
The script should take students 20-25 minutes to act out (depending on how dramatic your kiddos are). The testimony lays out the facts of the case and the 14th Amendment issues in question, as well as the arguments on both sides.
There is a writing prompt as a conclusion, asking students to use evidence from the script to write a decision in the case.
A homework assignment is included (excerpt from the actual decision)
