These documents include the text of Truman Capote's "Miriam," with a 20-question reading assessment combined with it, and an answer key.
The assessment is Common Core aligned.
The documents are in Word and in PDF versions.
I use this reading assessment as a cold read at the end of my unit on Modernism. The 20 questions are a mixture of simple in-the-text-type questions and more challenging beyond-the-text questions that require higher order thinking skills.
You could use it as a test, quiz, reading assessment, homework assignment, or reading assignment.
The text is 6 pages, the questions are 3 pages, and the answer key is 3 pages. Total, there are 24 pages because of the Word and PDF versions.
This could also be used as an emergency lesson plan when a substitute is needed quickly.
