PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Mishap at Venn Zoo is a co-operative puzzle that gives students practice with mirror symmetry, rotational symmetry and beautiful Venn diagrams. It will engage a large fraction of your grade 4 or grade 5 students for one 40-50 minute period. It requires students to place "animals" into a Venn diagram based on their symmetry.


Standards for Mathematical Practice:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.G.A.2
Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.G.A.3
Recognize a line of symmetry for a two-dimensional figure as a line across the figure such that the figure can be folded along the line into matching parts. Identify line-symmetric figures and draw lines of symmetry.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.G.B.4
Classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties.
