Miss Manner is an activity inspired by See What I Mean: Differences Between Deaf and Hearing Cultures*. Students will become bloggers and receive "letters" to respond to a dilemma. Students will be charged with answering the letter on their blog from both a Deaf and hearing perspective.
This is a writing and signed presentational activity. This packet is great for getting students to think about what they have learned about Deaf culture. This can be used as a presentational assignment that can lead to interpersonal conversations or debates.
Included in this packet:
- 9 "letters" written to your student with colored borders
- 9 worksheets for students to construct a response to the letter for both hearing and deaf points of view (black and white)
- A rubric if you choose to incorporate it
- Ideas page to help you know how to incorporate in your classroom
*Note: you do not need to use this activity with the video.
