This is a favorite tradition of mine which the students love each year. It is a great getting-to-know you student/teacher activity.

Text connection - compare Miss Nelson’s class to YOUR class using a venn diagram
Sight text based evidence about Miss Nelson and Miss Swamp - compare/contrast characters - this is a great story for students to pretend they are “detectives,” as one of the characters in the story is a detective - Students can pretend to be a detective to find “evidence” throughout the story to figure out the ending and make connections.
Art activity - create a “missing” poster of Miss Nelson
