Springtime is here and it is time to use blossoms to help understand addition and subtraction. This is a recording sheet for "playing" a missing addend game.
Students count the number of blossoms, then hide some under a cup or flower pot. Students then look to see how many blossoms are still showing. Once they record that number, they then figure out how many are hidden. They again record and check under the cup or flower pot.
Included is a "math talk" work mat and three options for a recording sheet.
You will find several holiday versions of this game at Terri Izatt's KinderKapers store. Pictures of my students using these can be found at my blog www.merrykinderkapers.blogspot.com
