2. Identifying political and physical features

3. Environmental issues

Missing child poster: Solomon, a middle-school aged child went missing. The abductors took him and several other children out of the country traveling on a ship. The abductors are businessmen. They kidnap and trade goods and children to make money. The kids work as slaves (human trafficking or child labor).

___________________ parents are desperate to find him/her. They are willing to pay $1,000,000 to the person that locates their son. Your job as an investigator is to analyze 4 (how many countries are in your standard) countries’ location, climate, natural resources to determine the best place they’d take the missing child to live. You have to present your reasoning to some police officers/detectives for them to start looking for ______________.

*This can be used for any of the geography units; as you do the same standards on different regions of the world.

For 6th graders: Europe: Italy, Germany, UK, Russia or Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba

For 7th graders:
*(Africa) Sahara, Sahel, savanna, and tropical rain forest or

Middle East (no specific country, but you can pick countries like Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Iraq because of oil, desert, rivers) or

Asia: China, India, Japan

*You can even have them discuss in their research and reasoning the environmental issues in the areas.

*If you want to go deeper the students can come up with an awareness campaign, solution, or whatever they can think of about human trafficking, kidnapping, child labor…
