I noticed when testing students on Missing Number of mClass Math that they struggled to figure out what number should go in the blank. I developed this game to help develop a stronger knowledge base of number sense and to just have fun playing with the numbers.
Students will have fun finding the missing number. They are to place the missing number cards with the number that fits in the blank spot. For example, ____, 18, 19 would be placed with the 17 card. 13, 14, ____ would be placed with the 15 card.
This activity can be used in several different ways. Students can use this as an individual activity or could race against a partner who has another set to see who can be first to place the cards correctly. It can also be used as an assessment. The cards could be used during small group instruction or as a warm-up activity.
