Have your students become CGIS (Coast Guard Investigative Service) agents and find out the real truth about the Master Chief. This activity is greate for grade 6 readers. It covers the following reading core skills: predicting, clarifying, context clues, asking teacher-like questions, characterization, drawing conclusions, making inferences, and summarizing. It provides opportunities for reading, writing, listening and speaking and can be used in whole group, cooperative groups, or for more advanced students as an independent activity or assessment.
As the plot thickens, students are asked to reevaluate their predictions about the whereabouts of the Master Chief. After considering all of the facts and clues, the students must use logical thought and write a well-thought out creative story ending.
