Guide students to create their own, personal mission statement using a fun snapshot/camera theme!!
This activity is a great way to begin the school year, although it is also a great way to get the students thinking about goals during anytime of the year (like after Winter Break!).
1 PowerPoint Presentation
This PowerPoint (with notes) guides teacher and students through a discussion of academic strengths and weaknesses along with what a Mission Statement is, and how to create a personal, S.M.A.R.T. Mission Statement. There is also a slide to use for creating a whole-class Mission Statement.
Printable #1 serves as a discussion of the overall school experience (this is great to use with students who may need assistance with starting a discussion and sharing academic experiences out loud).
Printable #2 serves as a personal academic inventory that allows students to reflect on strengths and weaknesses of school, along with a template to draft a personal Mission Statement. The template can also be used to create a whole-class mission statement!
Printable #3 is a one page printable with a black and white camera and Polaroid to write/decorate their Mission Statement (a “snapshot” of their academic goal)
Printable #4 is one full-page camera to write/decorate their Mission Statement on the camera
Printable #5 is one full page Polaroid to write/decorate their Mission Statement in the Polaroid
While this activity is geared toward Middle-High School students, the fun camera and polaroid printables can be used in any grade level.
Enjoy! Have a wonderful school year! ☺
