In this pre-lab, students observe and draw pre-set onion root slides. The teacher must pre-set these slides so that the arrow in the eyepiece is directly on a cell of your choosing. Students attempt to group like cells using any logic they see fit.
After teaching about the phases of mitosis, students go back to the slides and their drawings to see if they can correctly place them with their new knowledge of the phases of mitosis.
