In this fun puzzle activity students learn to visually recognize the phases of the cell cycle. Naturally students love puzzles, so building a sequence of events picture cards is easy and fun. This can be used alone, or as a preparation for a real microscope lab. Students gain understanding by starting to recognize the chromosomes and what they are doing by constructing these puzzles, then researching and summarizing the important characteristics and events of each phase.
This activity can be successfully used with a group, partners or an individual.
