This lab is a well organized mitosis onion root tip lab. It is formatted to allow students to complete a full lab report on a single sheet of paper, including data tables, graphs, and a section for analysis and conclusion. Each section is meant to be taught in different groupings, opening with whole class discussion of terms and introducing the problem, developing an appropriate hypothesis, and discussion of experimental procedures. Students collect data and complete graphs in small groups or pairs. Students complete analysis and conclusions independently for the close of the period in the same way as all my other labs (for consistency of procedures.) This is a great, simple, one-class lab that follows the scientific method and teaches about the cell cycle in one lesson. Students practice data collection and graphing to strengthen subject related math skills.
