The NGSS standards ask us to look at the big picture. These EDITABLE slides ask students: "How do we start as a single cell and end up as a complex organism with millions of specialized cells?"
The answer: Mitosis and Cell Differentiation. This PPT summarizes mitosis (making more cells), stem cells, specialized cells, and cell differentiation (making different types of cells). Included with this is a student sheet for notes, and an article to get students thinking beforehand.
