Mitten math gives students the opportunity to learn how to count by 1’s, 5’s, 10’s and 25's so that they may apply this knowledge to counting pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Many children find it difficult to transition count from tens to fives. They also struggle with counting on a ten to any number that doesn’t end in zero.
This resource is meant to be used as a learning activity for a small group/ guided math and as a game that students can play independently in a math center.
