Number recognition is a critical concept in the early primary grades to develop fluency with numbers. This is a fun game to work on with the whole class or a small group. My kids LOVE to play this over and over even after they have mastered all the numbers.
Put the number snowmen in a pocket chart in number order. Use all the numbers or the ones your kids need to work on. Hide the mittens behind one of the snowmen. Students guess numbers trying to find the mittens. I have the kids come up to the chart to lift the number and check. This helps them with number recognition. Once they've mastered all the numbers, mix them up and put them in the chart in random order.
I have included both color and black and white versions. Print them on card stock and laminate for durability.
